Cleaning Methods

Steam Cleaning

Nothing protects your carpeting investment better than steam cleaning. Our certified technicians use this preferred hot water extraction method to remove dirt, grime, and allergens.

Dry Steam Carpet Cleaning – Quick Dry

Dry steaming allows us to process more hot water through the carpet, making it perfect for cleaning heavily soiled or stained areas. This generates superior results with almost no drying time required.

EnviroCare™

People with respiratory issues must also be considered. Our EnviroCare™ carpet cleaning systems use only hypoallergenic and environmentally friendly solutions to deep clean all types of carpet. Our deep vacuuming systems have HEPA filters that lift soil and dust, and then trap it to prevent the particles from becoming airborne again. In addition, our programs meet or exceed those set by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC).

Protective Treatment

Protector won’t change the look or feel of your carpet. Instead, it will repel spills, block stains and resist soiling to help keep your carpets cleaner longer. With protector, most fresh spills will clean up easily with just water.

Care Process

Step 1 – Our cleaning process starts with the management of soil entering your building. Often this is the job of the housekeeping company who should place matting in your lobby to minimize soil and ice melt getting beyond the front door. In addition, vacuuming tenant areas must be done at least weekly … even more frequently in elevator lobbies, reception areas and high traffic corridors.
Step 2 – Many companies only clean a carpet when it looks stained and dirty. However, a carefully considered program goes beyond that and stops the cycle of carpet wear-out, resulting in premature replacement. Our consultants will access your needs and provide an IICRC (International Institute of Carpet and Restoration Certification) approved care program that meets the maintenance specifications of major carpet mills.
Step 3 – Once our program is approved, we will determine the best timing for each month´s service. We will also arrange for security access. Finally, we will discuss the frequency of vacuuming by the housekeeping company and suggest how to maximize this important aspect of carpet care.
Step 4 – After every servicing, our technicians will inform you of any issues they encountered. Plus, we will regularly inspect your space to ensure the program is performing, as it should.

Carpet Repairs Techniques

Longer Carpet Life
We recommend trying a repair as your first option before making the decision to replace your carpet because of soiled appearance or wear and tear. Here are some of the techniques we use to extend the life of your carpet investment:

Re-stretching
Repairs bunched carpet by stretching it and removing the wrinkles. The carpet is often re-cut along the edges to remove excess material

Cut and Plug
We first extract carpet from under furniture or cabinets, and then use hot glue to adhere the patch to areas of deep stain, burn or other damage.

Firts-Aid for Spills

When Spills Happen

Today’s stain-resistant fabrics make treating spills much easier. Still, no carpet is 100% resistant. The key is to act QUICKLY:

Blot spot with a dry white absorbent cloth, or plain white paper towel. A coloured material may transfer ink or dye to your carpet). Continue blotting until the area is damp. Semi-solids like food may need to be scooped up with a spoon. Dry, solid bits can be vacuumed.
Do not scrub or use a brush. Bristles and elbow grease can cause fraying and texture change.

Use one of these cleaners approved by the Carpet and Rug Institute. Though any of these listed have been laboratory tested, you should still test them first on a scrap of carpet or in an out-of-sight place.
Follow the product’s directions carefully, and remember more is not better. Apply a small amount of the cleaner to a white cloth, and work in gently from the edges to the center. Blot; don’t scrub! You may need to do this several times to remove the spot. Once gone, blot the area with clear water to remove any remaining product.

Amazing Results

Regardless of fabric type, we have the right solution for your soiled fabric furniture and workstations. We pay special attention to those heavy use areas such as: armrests, headrests, cushions and seat edges. Some of the items we regularly clean for commercial customers include: sofas and cushions; and chairs made of micro-suede, cotton, wool, polyester, vinyl and leather. Ask about Scotchguard Protection to keep your furniture spot resistant for years of use.

As part of our EnviroCare™ program, all the stain removers we use have low hazard ratings. If you’d prefer us to use only green products, we are happy to accommodate your request. However, the products currently available have limitations in their ability to accomplish a thorough cleaning. Our general policy is to, “Clean Green, but keep stains from being seen.”

Cleaning Process

Here is the seven-step process used by Interior Care to ensure impressive results:

Step 1 – Pre-inspect fabric to check for heavily soiled areas and determine if they can be safely cleaned.
Step 2 – Vacuum to remove any loose dirt, dust and hair.
Step 3 – Pre-treat heavily soiled areas and spots, before cleaning with an upholstery brush.
Step 4 – Steam clean surface. Any residue from the process is removed to eliminate re-soiling.
Step 5 – Detail dust and clean chair frame and base.
Step 6 – Inspect furniture and treat any remaining spots or stains.
Step 7 – Apply fresh smelling sanitizer. It takes approximately 2 hours for furniture to dry unless air movers are requested to speed up the process. An optional rapid drying service is also available.

The Pleasure of Clean Leather

Our leather cleaning is done by hand using colour matching and refinishing spray. Natural oils are restored to prevent further drying or cracking. The result is furniture with a renewed appearance and a texture back to its original soft touch.

Let Your Stone Shine

Do your stone floors look dull? They are beautiful when installed, but if not properly cared for, the floors often become scratched and worn. You´ll be amazed at the difference some polish and restoration can look in making your stone shiny again. Interior Care has the team of cleaning technicians to make this happen for you, whether its limestone, terrazzo, granite or marble. This includes anything from polishing and sealing the floors to full restoration and repair.

Stone Floor Care

Here is the seven-step process used by Interior Care to ensure impressive results:

Cleaning – Removes dirt, stains, and bacteria as well as waxes and polymers embedded in the stone.
Sealing – Protects and preserves natural stone using penetrating epoxies and impregnators.
Stripping – Removes coatings that block the stones ability to breathe and may cause cracking.
Grinding – Eliminates deep scratches and uneven edges. Interior Care uses special grinders operated with water to eliminate dust.
Polishing – Enhances the veining within marble floors and is used for protection in high-traffic and high-spill areas.
Grout Cleaning – Interior Care uses a patented system to eliminate contaminants from the micro pores in grout. We then seal the surface to facilitate long-term maintenance.
Ceramic – Our Floor Cleaning Technicians thoroughly clean or remove old sealers, before re-applying a protector.

Let’S Talk Dirty

It costs approximately $500 to remove one pound of dirt after it has been tracked into a building. Over a twenty-day period, up to twenty-four pounds of dirt can be carried in by just 1000 people. That represents a monthly total of close to $12,000. In addition, it is estimated that 42% of a floor’s finish can be removed within the first two meters of an entrance after only 1500 people have walked in.

Matting won’t completely stop dirt from getting past the entranceways, but it can significantly reduce the volume. It will also extend the life of your varnish near exterior doors.

Here are three options to consider:

Scraper or Recessed Well Matting

This is the first line of defense against dirt and water in an exterior vestibule or just inside an entranceway. This matting aggressively removes water, snow, and sand from footwear.

Scraper/Wiper

This two-way matting system is the ultimate deterrent to dirt and moisture build up. It also protects people from slips, reduces floor damage, lowers maintenance costs.

Wiper Matting

This represents your last line of defense. It wipes residual water from shoes, and traps and holds fine sand. We recommend 15 to 20 ft. of walk-off matting per entrance.

PAINTING

Put On a Fresh Coat

Interior Care recommends using paint with lower counts of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). They emit fewer toxic fumes, without compromising performance. Look for the GreenSure™ designation for assurance that your paint meets the LEED standard set by the Canada Green Building Council.

Only those products that offer maximum performance, long-term durability and have the highest air quality ratings for low VOCs and odours, meet or exceed the GreenSure™ criteria.

Our office painting team also fixes wall damage. In addition, we like to install corner guards to protect from future damage

LEED Approved Paint

Harmony® Interior Latex is designed with anti-microbial properties, and offers zero-VOCs, low odor and is silica-free. The water-based formula is available as both a primer and topcoat. It comes in eggshell, flat and semi-gloss finishes. Harmony is one of two coatings to earn the GreenSure™ certification from Sherwin-Williams. The other is Duration Home™. We are happy to apply similar paint products from other manufacturers as well.

TELEPHONES & KEYBOARDS

Share the Clean

Given the advent of sharing desks, it’s no surprise that telephone and keyboard hygiene is a major concern to an office environment. Both are ideal areas for bacteria to flourish. As a result they pose a potential health risk, particularly in the mouthpiece and cradle of a telephone. Our intensive cleaning service uses hospital-grade disinfectants to kill bacteria, and halt the transfer of germs and illness.

BLINDS

Ultra Clean Blinds

Interior Care specializes in the ultrasonic cleaning of a wide array of blinds: Venetian, Minis, Micros, Wood, Pleated & Cellular Shades, Silhouettes, Verticals, and Roller Shades.

Ultrasonic cleaning is one of the safest and most thorough processes used. In addition to keeping your blinds clean from between one and two years, the procedure also restores the original finish to make in-house maintenance easier, and helps improve air quality.

Once cleaned, blinds are thoroughly rinsed and put through our natural drying system to ensure a spot-free finish. Finally, they are wrapped to eliminate the issue of vanes sticking together and damaging their finish. They stay in this packaging until re-installation.

Ultrasonic Cleaning

Ultrasonic cleaning is especially effective at dealing with those hard-to-reach places like head rails, vanes, ladders and cords. The technology eliminates the need for harsh chemicals. Specially formulated cleaning solutions and water conditioners are used instead to minimize the impact on your blinds.
